Choosing the Right Office Chair
A chair used for a full workday has different requirements from one used occasionally by a visitor or in a short meeting. Start with the role the chair needs to perform, then compare its size, adjustments, upholstery and appearance.
Match the Chair to Its Purpose
Task chairs suit desk-based work, while drafting chairs are designed for higher work surfaces. Managerial chairs and executive office chairs typically offer a larger profile or more substantial finish for private offices and leadership spaces.
For meeting rooms, choose boardroom chairs that fit comfortably around the table without limiting movement. In reception areas and consultation spaces, visitor chairs should be easy to access, simple to reposition and appropriate for a wide range of guests.
Compare Fit, Adjustments and Materials
For chairs used regularly, check the seat dimensions and available adjustment range against the person using it. Depending on the model, useful features may include seat-height adjustment, lumbar support, adjustable arms, tilt controls and a supportive mesh or upholstered back. The dedicated ergonomic chair range is a useful place to start when adjustability is a priority.
Material also affects where a chair works best. Mesh can provide a lighter appearance and airflow, while fabric, leather and PU finishes offer different looks and levels of upkeep. For a multi-chair order, consider how consistently the colour and finish need to carry across workstations, meeting rooms and private offices.
Plan the Complete Desk Setup
Check that armrests fit beneath the desk where required and that the chair can move without colliding with nearby storage. Pair seating with correctly sized office desks, and use chair accessories where a floor mat or drafting conversion is appropriate.
Rose Office Furniture can supply individual chairs or help coordinate seating for a wider commercial project. Contact our team to confirm which models are available to view at the Port Melbourne showroom.
